Studienkolleg is a preparatory program in Germany that helps international students
prepare for their study in German Universities, specifically Public Universities or some state-
recognized Universities. Germany has a high school education of 13 years, but in countries
like India, Vietnam, and South Korea, it’s just 12 years of core schooling. Therefore, students
are required to complete a one-year preparatory course called Studienkolleg, which will fill
the gap between Germany’s 13-year educational system and the systems in other countries,
which operate at a 12-year level.
Studienkolleg focuses on two things; It offers courses in subjects that are relevant to your
future academics; and students have the opportunity to acquire German language skills
through the program, which will further help them in their university education.
Studienkolleg is available for both Humanities and STEM fields, with specialized focus
courses.
After preparing there will be an exam named FSP (the Feststellungsprüfung) clearing this
exam will permit students to attend degree programs in Germany.
